Conserving Wildlife through Raising Community Awareness, Improving Capacity, and Promoting Crime Prevention

SCENTS is actively monitor illegal wildlife trade and unsustainable wildlife exploitation practices, improve the capacity of law enforcement officers related to environmental ethics, conduct criminological research and academic approaches that support law enforcement interventions against wildlife crime, increase civil society involved in wildlife conservation, and support policy changes by disseminating data and information related to threatened species.

Key Activities

Research and Monitoring

Monitor unsustainable poaching and wildlife trafficking practices are crucial to create a better intervention strategies for reducing illegal wildlife trade and unsustainable wildlife exploitation. Promote crime prevention approaches to reduce the opportunity of criminals to commit a crime, and strengthen the judicial process to create a deterrent effect.

Improving Capacity

Increasing knowledge capacity related to wildlife conservation and protection, specifically for law enforcement officials who deal with law enforcement in the ground, academy or universities to promote and implement wildlife conservation curriculum, and civil society in general to prevent illegal wildlife trade and unsustainable wildlife exploitation .

Awareness and Information Dissemination

Support policy changes through data and information dissemination to relevant authorities related to the threats of unsustainable wildlife exploitation practices. SCENTS is also addressing public awareness to raise the importance of wildlife conservation issue in the community.
